Log in explanation for employees 

What is your employee portal? 

This portal contains your personal information about your pension. With your online employee portal you can easily gain insight into your pension situation, compare your expected retirement income with what you need and make adjustments. 

Gain access to your employee portal 

You can only access your employee portal if the pension scheme of your (former) employer is administered by Zwitserleven and you have the Zwitserleven Pensioen. You will receive a welcome letter with more information within a few working days. You will also receive a welcome email on the email address your employer has provided. From the moment you have received this email, you can log in to your employee portal.

There are several ways to log in to your employee portal .

Log in with DigiD 

DigiD is a well-known way in the Netherlands to identify yourself online at various (government) institutions, such as the tax authorities or your health insurer. You can log in easily and securely with your DigiD. Anyone aged 14 or older with the Dutch nationality can apply for a DigiD themselves. You can read how to do this on the DigiD website. 

You can log in to your employee portal  with your DigiD. Because we have confidential information, for security reasons you can only log in to your employee portal  with the DigiD app on which a so-called ID check has been performed. 

One-off actions to log in with DigiD 

To be able to log in with DigiD, you must do the following:

  • 1. Install the DigiD app on your phone, which you can be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store. 
  • 2. Activate the DigiD app. To do this, follow the step-by-step guide to activate the DigiD app on the DigiD website (only available in Dutch). 
  • 3. Do the ID check on the DigiD app. To do this, you must scan your ID (passport, identity card or driver’s license) with your DigiD app. You can read how to do this in the ID check step-by-step guide on the DigiD website (only available in Dutch). You will also find the conditions here. 

If you have completed these 3 steps, you are able to log in to your employee portal with your DigiD. 

Are you unable to do the steps above, for example because you do not have a smartphone or tablet with an NFC reader or no ID with an NFC chip? Then you cannot log in to yyour employee portal with DigiD. Read on below at “Log in with username and password”. 

Log in with DigiD 

Have you performed the one-off actions to log in with DigiD? If not, do this first. If so, you can log in to your employee portal with DigiD. 

Go to your employee portal and click on “Login with DigiD”. Then select logging in with the DigiD app and follow the next steps in the login screens. 

Log in with eIDAS 

eIDAS stands for “Electronic Identities And Trust Services”. This is an agreement between European member states about the cross-border use of European recognized login methods. 

Do you not have the Dutch nationality or do you live abroad and are you unable or unwilling to apply for a DigiD? And do you have another European approved digital identity comparable to DigiD in the Netherlands? Then you may be able to log in to your employee portal using that. 

Go to life.zwitserleven.nl and click on “Login with eIDAS”. Then select the country of your European recognized login method and follow the next steps in the login screens.  

Log in with username and password 

Are you unable or unwilling to log in with DigiD or eIDAS? Then you can still log in to your employee portal for the time being with your employee portal username and password. 

You can set your username and password by clicking on the icon in the your employee portal welcome email or by following the steps below. 

Log in with username and password 

You can log in with username and password as follows: 

  • 1. Go to  your employee portal and choose to log in as participant. 
  • 2. Then choose “Do you not have DigiD or eIDAS? Click here” at the bottom of your screen. 
  • 3. You will be taken to a screen where you enter your username and password, then click on “Login”.  

Set up two-factor authentication 

After entering your login details, for security reasons you will be asked to set up a so-called two-factor authentication on your account. In addition to your password, you then use a second means of identification. At your employee portal, this second means is a code in an Authenticator app which you install on your smartphone. 

Logging in with two-factor authentication is more secure and reduces the chance that hackers will gain access to your account and thus to your personal data. In this case, a malicious person cannot use your password if he has acquired this. To set up two-factor authentication, follow the steps in the login screen. 

After you have set this up, you can only log in with two-factor authentication and no longer with just your username and password. 

Setting up two-factor authentication is mandatory from December 21, 2021 

From December 21, 2021, two-factor authentication will be mandatory if you want to log in with username and password. 

Did you log in with DigiD or eIDAS before? 

Then it is no longer possible to log in with your username and password. Then use DigiD or eIDAS again to log in. 

Has the link in the welcome email expired or have you forgotten your username and / or password? 

You can request your username or password by clicking on “Request username” or “Reset password”. 

  • 1. Go to  your employee portal and choose to log in as participant. 
  • 2. Then choose “Do you not have a DigiD or eIDAS? Click here” at the bottom of your screen.  
  • 3. You will now be taken to a screen where you can request your username and password. 

Then enter the requested information. You will receive an email at the email address known to us with your username or an email to reset your password. 
You can then log in with your username and password. 

Frequently asked questions

I do have DigiD, but I am unable to log in to the employee portal with DigiD? 

To log in to your employee portal with DigiD you must have installed the DigiD app. You must also have done an ID check on your DigiD app. How you can do this is explained above under the heading “Log in with DigiD”. 

Doesn’t it work? Then try to log in with your your employee portal username and password. How to do this is described above under the heading “Log in with username and password”. 

I do not have a smartphone or tablet with an NFC reader. How can I log in to the employee portal? 


If you do not have a smartphone or tablet with an NFC reader, it is not possible to log in to your employee portal with DigiD. You can log in with your your employee portal username and password. If you do not know your log in details, you can request these via your employee portal. You can read how to do this above under the heading “Log in with username and password”. 

I do not have an ID with an NFC chip to do the ID check on my DigiD app. How can I log in to the employee portal? 


If you do not have an ID with an NFC chip, for example because it was issued at a consulate, embassy, border municipality or Schiphol desk, it is not possible to do the ID check on your DigiD app. In that case you cannot log in to your employee portal with DigiD. You can log in with your employee portal username and password. You can read how to do this above under the heading “Log in with username and password”. 

I am not able to log in with the employee portal username and password? 


Your username or password may be incorrect. 
You can request your username by clicking on “Request username? Click here.” on life.zwitserleven.nl. After entering your email address you will receive an email with your username. 

If you (also) do not know your password, you can (also) reset it by clicking on the “Reset password? Click here.” on life.zwitserleven.nl and enter your username there. You will then receive an email with a link to a page to enter a new password. There you can also change your username. 

Did you log in with DigiD or eIDAS before? 
Then it is no longer possible to log in with your username and password. Then use DigiD or eIDAS again to log in. 

Are you unable to log in with the help of the answers to the frequently asked questions above?
